Melbourne : The capital city of Australia
Melbourne is the second Australian city in population, after Sydney and is the capital of the state of Victoria. Was the capital of Australia between 1901 and 1927.
Has been considered by several studies at the world level as one of the best cities to live and is one of the best cities around the world to travel.
Melbourne takes its name of British Prime Minister William Lamb, who was second viscount of Melbourne (English locality in the county of Derbyshire). The word Melbourne is derived from the term Anglo-saxon Melly Burne, whose meaning is “arroyo of mill”. The city also is nicknamed the “garden city” by their botanical gardens and parks.
Tourist Attractions and places of interest:
Federation Square. A plaza paved with an extravagant design that has shops and restaurants.
Rio Yarra and Port Phillip Bay. The vast majority of postcards that identify Melbourne include the River Yarra, in its outskirts are residences, business and sports centers.
Collins Street. The main street in the city, where you can find luxury items and impressive buildings.
