Parish and Convent of San Andres Mixquic
The population of San Andres Mixquic is located in the Delegation of Tlahuac, in the Federal District; as many of the peoples of the Valley of Anáhuac, Mixquic was founded by the Mexican, after having dried some land occupied by the waters of Lake of Xochimilco.
In the year of 1536, arrived in Mixquic los frailest agustinos, Jorge de Avila and Jerónimo de San Esteban, founders of the Temple and Convent, whose first buildings were a small chapel and a house with thatch roofs. With the time they were made different adjustments and new construction, up to be a great church of type basilica, with three naves saturated with beautiful decorations, coated in gold and large and valuable pictures to the oil in the walls.
