Almuñécar & Costa Tropical
Almuñécar is known as the capital of the Costa Tropical and offers tourist’s beaches besides a well-maintained facilities and outstanding services. There is a good tourist infrastructure with hotels and apartments with a family atmosphere. There are also many new private accommodations that have had an acceptable demand, backpackers or low-budget tourists.
The Tropical Coast extends along a coastline of beautiful beaches and pristine coves. Situated between the Costa del Sol and Almeria coast, the land in the province of Granada are washed by the warm waters of the Mediterranean, offering visitors a unique subset of tropical climate. The average temperature is 20 degrees and there are 320 sunny days a year. This climate has helped the area develop in the fruit industry which is profitable. That if the area is full of beautiful towns, villages and coastline offers all types of water activities.
The Tropical Coast is also rich history to offer visitors and the area remains a constant discovery. Throughout the coast you can view the towers and fortresses that once served as lookout posts during the Arab occupation.
Almuñécar has several high quality beaches, including Playa Cabria, Galera beach with dark sand and soft Tesorillo beach which is small and surrounded by rocks, Playa Velilla, long sheltered from the westerly winds and very popular in the summer is the beach of San Cristobal, with numerous restaurants and beach bars.
